Take good care of your bedding

Wooden laundry washing clothes line for bedding

Bedding care is simpler than you might realise – especially when it comes to bedding made with natural fabrics such as Egyptian cotton and true linen. Taking good care of your bedding by washing it regularly with the right detergents, as well as drying it in the correct way, will help to maintain its quality and great texture for years to come.

You will find an abbreviated version of the below care instructions on the stitch-in labels in all Falucca Fine Linen:

Washing

Make sure you machine wash at <40°, regularly. We recommend at least once a week if our linen is being slept in nightly. Do not overload the washing machine and make sure the bedding is rinsed properly. Wash whites and colours separately.

Detergent

Never use strong chemicals or detergents on your linen. We recommend a domestic liquid detergent readily available at all supermarkets. If you are making use of a laundromat make sure to research what detergents they are using as most industrial laundromats (not recommended) use industrial washing powders which contain bleaching agents (optical brighteners) which will fade coloured cotton and damage the natural fabrics. Small amounts of fabric softener can be used on cotton however this is not necessary. Softeners should not be used on True linen.

Tumble drying

When you tumble dry, do so on low heat. We do not recommend tumble drying as there is a tendency to over dry on a high heat which will damage the fabric. If tumble drying is necessary do not over dry and remove promptly to avoid unnecessary creasing. Line drying is recommended for longevity as it puts the least amount of stress on the fabric. Coloured cotton bedding should be dried out of direct sunlight, UVs fade the colour.

Ironing

Iron using a steam iron on the correct heat setting or iron while slightly damp.

Do not bleach

Do not dry clean

Colour consistency

Dye-lot variations occur in all textiles and are unavoidable. Dyed cotton is sensitive to direct sunlight and fading will occur, avoid drying your bedding in the sun, fading is also caused by optical brighteners used in most washing powders, never use strong chemicals or industrial washing powders on coloured or dyed cotton.
