Thread Count and Quality
Thread count refers to the number of threads both in the vertical and horizontal direction in a specified area (3.16cm2). Most cotton fabrics will start at 150 with percale referring to a thread count of 200 to 250. Percale therefore refers to a weave and not a special kind of cotton. While bedding fabrics are available with thread counts of up to 1000, anything in excess of 600 single ply threads in most cases becomes too heavy and dense to be comfortable.

The thread count is also affected by the ply of the threads used. The ply refers to how many threads are wrapped together to form a single thread. Single ply fabrics use threads on their own and in cottons with short fibers, two threads are often twisted together to form a two-ply thread while this doubles the thread count of the fabric it results in a heavier yet weaker fabric.

The new Greencoil showroom has opened at the Upper Eastside Hotel in Woodstock, they have selected Falucca Linen as there preferred linen supplier. The Falucca Linen Range is now available in there showroom under the Greencoil label, do yourself a favour and go and roll around on the new Greencoil collection of mattresses, with a new organic range they cater for all discerning bed buyer.

550 TC Egyptian Cotton in Black & White

The Cape Town Boat Show was recently held at the CTICC and the yacht basin behind the Cape Grace Hotel at the Cape Town V&A Waterfront. Falucca Linen Company had the opportunity to dress the beds on a Fontaine Pajot Cumberland 46 Power catamaran, in conjunction with Professional Yacht Management based in Durban. We introduced the yacht loving public to the luxurious 550 thread count Egyptian cotton custom made bed linen range now available in SA and abroad. We decided to give each cabin a different colour scheme, for the main cabin we chose dramatic Black and White which proved to be very popular. In cabin 2 we created a romantic mood with White and Silver Grey linen with plush velvet cushions and cabin 3, the natural tones of Ice Coffee complimented with crisp white. The 550 thread count Egyptian cotton custom made range, the pure goose down pillows and inners and ultra soft bamboo towels all form part of the extended Falucca Linen Range.
